“Gypsy don't talk to non-Gypsy. T'ain't right. Not never.”
But one of them is talking. Should you listen? Can you trust him? Or is he just another thieving, cheating, pikey scumbag?
King of the Gypsies follows a gypsy bare knuckle fighter whose memories and fading dreams haunt him; His victories, his losses, his every choice reflected in the objects that are carried with him on his ceaseless travels.
Verbatim theatre and new writing collide in a unique theatre experience from the hearts and minds of todays Gypsy community.
This is a 'work in development' performance which will premiere at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August. King of the Gypsies is part of Escalator East to Edinburgh and is supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
These Colours are a theatre company that strive to present bold new writing in a highly visual style. Previous work includes 'Nosferatu' at the Arcola Theatre, 'Wild Things!' and 'The Big Ugly Monster and the little Stone Rabbit' which will be touring the UK again this Autumn.
